About

Cong Liu
I am a researcher, data scientist, and sustainability advocate working at the intersection of biodiversity science, artificial intelligence, and the commons. My career has taken me from tropical rainforests to museum collections to industry R&D — united by a fascination with complex systems and a drive to build tools that turn data into scientific insight.
As a Research Associate at Harvard's Museum of Comparative Zoology, I study insect biodiversity and evolution with a focus on ants. My research spans taxonomic discovery, conservation genomics, and nature digitization — translating physical biological entities into high-dimensional datasets to uncover hidden evolutionary rules. Fieldwork has taken me across the Hengduan Mountains, Okinawa, Borneo, and Samoa.
In industry, I apply my scientific training to clinical data science — using machine learning, NLP, and generative AI to tackle challenges in clinical and biomedical research. The rigor developed working with noisy ecological data translates naturally to the complexities of clinical datasets.
I also co-founded the Sustainability of Sustainability (SOS) Foundation, building continuity between art, science, and economics — because sustainability itself needs sustaining through cultural resonance and systemic design.
